What is Mirnet?
Mirnet is a web site that aims to broaden the outlook of our readers. We aim to bring you inspiring, stimulating articles, video and audio from around the world.

The Radio and Television sections of our site includes logs and listings of radio and TV stations - some international, some local or regional. Where possible, we list the location, frequencey and power of the stations and a brief overview of their output format. If you would like to contribute to this section, email us at admin@mirnet.org

Our links page is not just any links page. Links to alternative news, free Internet radio sites, wierd and wonderful stuff we have found on the Internet and much more. We have no editorial control over third party web sites and, as such when using links you agree that you are responsible for deciding the usefulness or otherwise of the content of third party web sites.

You can become involved in the evolution of Mirnet.org by emailing us at admin@mirnet.org. Your submissions are welcome and will be posted on the site as long as they are legal and not pornographic.

Alternative News

A large proportion of Mirnet.org is dedicated to Alternative News. In many people's minds, "alternative" is taken to mean "wierd, strange or even insane". As you will discover, this is not always the case. "Alternative", in the context of Mirnet.org is anything that is not generally seen in the mainstream, commercial and corporate news media.

Much or what used to be considered "alternative" is now widely regarded as mainstrean in that it has been accepted to be true or probably true. Thirty years ago, "Global Warming" was thought of as a "fringe" or "alternative" theory but now it is considered by many to be an axiom.

In many cases, "alternative" news is the most investigative and thorough debate forum to discuss and thrash out the thruth of what can only be touched on by the mainstream corporate media because of contractual, commercial, political or religious restrictions on them.

We make no judgement as to whether the "alternative" viewpoint is correct or not. Sometimes it is and sometimes it is not. As thinking people, we leave that to you to decide.
